Counterfeiting has moved on. The bags now described as superfakes or 1:1s are made with genuine-grade leather and hardware, and they defeat a casual inspection comfortably. Buying at this level means trusting someone. Here is exactly what that trust rests on with us.
Nothing is offered on photographs alone
No piece reaches this site on the strength of a supplier's photographs. Every bag is physically examined before it is offered — by us, or by a partner we have worked with for years and whose judgement we rely on as we would our own. Anything that does not satisfy that examination goes back to source. We would rather lose a sale than carry a piece we cannot stand behind.
What we examine
- Blind stamp and date code — depth, font, spacing and placement, cross-checked against the year of production and the model.
- Hardware — weight in the hand, plating quality, engraving depth on the lock and clochette, and whether the lock and key serials correspond.
- Stitching — angle, tension and consistency of the saddle stitch, and the thread itself. This remains one of the hardest things to replicate correctly.
- Leather — grain, weight, finish and smell, checked against what the stated leather and year should produce.
- Construction — alignment of feet, handles and turnlock, symmetry of panels, interior stamps, and the zipper make where one is fitted.
- Completeness — box, dust bag, clochette, keys, lock, rain cover, felt, ribbon, receipt, and CITES documentation on exotic pieces.
Independent verification
In the rare cases where we want a second opinion, we go to trusted third parties such as Bababebi, Authenticate First, or Hermès experts directly.
What travels with your bag
Every piece is delivered with detailed photographs taken at dispatch, a written record of its specification and condition, its original accessories, and, where exotic materials are involved, the CITES documentation required to move it legally across borders.
Our guarantee
If any piece bought from us is subsequently found not to be authentic by a recognised independent authenticator, we will refund the full purchase price. Not a credit, not an exchange. The full amount, returned.
